Dr Molefe Nchabeleng is a respected General and Laparoscopic Surgeon who currently practises at Mediclinic Midstream and Netcare Unitas, offering expert surgical care across a wide spectrum of conditions. Known for his broad surgical expertise and patient-first approach, Dr Nchabeleng manages everything from common abdominal emergencies to endocrine, breast, and minimally invasive procedures.

Born and raised in Sekhukhune, Limpopo, Dr Nchabeleng was inspired to pursue medicine at an early age, motivated by the example of a highly respected doctor in his community. After matriculating from St Peter’s Christian Academy in 2002, he relocated to Johannesburg to pursue medical studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he earned his MBBCh in 2009.

Following internship and community service, Dr Nchabeleng gained valuable early experience as a Medical Officer in both rural and urban hospitals, before commencing specialist training in general surgery in 2015. He completed his Fellowship of the College of Surgeons (FCS SA) in 2020 and earned his Master of Medicine (MMed Surgery) through the University of Pretoria in 2021. His training included time at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, where he was mentored by leading surgeons including Professor T Mokoena.

Today, Dr Nchabeleng brings a holistic and measured approach to surgical care. He is particularly drawn to the immediacy and impact of surgery—being able to treat serious conditions quickly and effectively. “Appendicitis can be life-threatening,” he notes, “but with surgery, you can fix it as if nothing ever happened.”

His clinical interests span a broad range of procedures, including gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, hernia, breast, endocrine, and head and neck surgery. He has a special interest in minimally invasive and laparoscopic techniques, which allow patients to benefit from quicker recovery times and fewer complications.

Outside of medicine, Dr Nchabeleng is a devoted family man, married with two sons. He enjoys running, staying active, and spending time outdoors.
